- 1What is an algorithm?An algorithm is a sequence of instructions that make sense and tell someone or something how to do a task. In computing algorithms can be used to design programs.
- 2How are algorithms written?Algorithms are often written as flowcharts which are usually shown using boxes to represent questions, decisions as well as the result of that decision. Algorithms can also be written using psuedocode.
- 3How do I design an algorithmWhen designing an algorithm first of all start by establishing what you want to achieve then break down all the steps that get you there into instructions and decisions.
It is also important to consider if there will be more than one solution to the problem and more than one outcome.
You must also make sure that your instructions are in chronological order and that the program actually makes sense. - 4What is pseudocode?Psuedocode is simply a way of describing a set of instructions before actually writing a program. Psuedocode uses the English language and can be helpful if you are not sure whether or not your algorithm makes sense.
