- 1ParticleThe mass is considered to be concentrated at a single point. This means we can ignore air-resistance and rotational effects because there are no dimensions.
- 2RodAn object with one dimension e.g ruler, pencil. This means the mass can be considered equally distributed along a straight line. A rod has no thickness and doesn't bend or buckle.
- 3LaminaA 2D object. The mass is considered equally distributed across the flat surface.
- 4Uniform BodyAn object with uniform density. This allows the mass to be considered concentrated at a single point at the geometrical centre of the body.

- 16GravityThe attraction of all objects to the Earth. We take acceleration due to gravity as 9.8ms^-2
