Karten in diesem Stapel (15)
- 14 systems of the Earth- air (atmosphere)
- water (hydrosphere)
- land (lithosphere)
- life (biosphere) - 2Any size group of interacting parts That form a complex wholeSystem
- 3System that is self contained (e.g., an automobile cooling system)Closed system
- 4System that allows both energy and matter to flow in and out of the system (e.g., a river system)Open system
- 5Earth is a _______ body with many separate but highly interacting parts or spheres.Dynamic
- 6Earth as a system Is composed of numerous parts called?Subsystems
- 7What are the two sources of Earth’s energy?- Sun - drives external processes such as weather, ocean circulation and erosional processes
- Earth’s Interior - drives internal processes including volcanoes, earthquakes and mountain buil - 8TRUE or FALSE Humans are part of the Earth systemTRUE
- 9A group of parts that function togetherSystem
- 10OPEN SYSTEM or CLOSED SYSTEM Parts can be either lost from or added to the systemOPEN SYSTEM
- 11OPEN SYSTEM or CLOSED SYSTEM all parts exist in precise amounts, and nothing can be lost or addedCLOSED SYSTEM
- 12all systems require an _____ ______ to drive themEnergy source
- 13Is Earth a closed system?Yes.
* All resources exist on Earth in limited amounts.
* For life on Earth to continue to function, these resources have to be recycled over and over again.
* Energy source: the sun - 14The 4 systems that sustain life are:• Biosphere (living things)
• Hydrosphere (all water on earth’s surface)
• Atmosphere (air)
• Lithosphere (soil) - 15Give the 5 layers of the Earth’s atmosphere- Troposphere
- Stratosphere
- Mesosphere
- Thermosphere
- Exosphere
