- 1Algorithms: An algorithm is a collection of unambiguous and executable operations to perform some task in a finite amount of time.Uses for Algorithms:
Algorithms are used to tell a person or a machine the simplest way of performing any task e.g making a cup of tea. - 2Types of Algorithms: Pseudo code: This is a way of writing an algorithm and is not computer code, it is like a vary simple coding language but it is not, it is uses simple English words to portray a task.Flow chart:
This is another way of writing an algorithm, it uses shapes to portray different types of commands or actions or processes, this is more visually pleasing but harder to make than a pseudo code algorithm. - 3And finally simple English: This is a simple way or writing an algorithm just using English, this is easy so everyone can understand.Example of a simple English algorithm:
Turning on the tv:
Pick up the remote
Point it towards tv
Press the red button at the top
Wait for 10 seconds if nothing happens press again
And keep pressing after 10 seconds until it works
If it doesn't work after 10 tries troubleshoot problems.
