Karten in diesem Stapel (10)
- 1CPU stands for?Central Processing Unit
- 2The function of a CPU is...the FETCHING and EXECUTING of instructions stored in memory
- 3Draw a diagram of the Function of a CPU
- 4The result of an executed process is stored where?Register
- 5What carries out the calculations/decodes?ALU: Arithmetic Logic Unit
- 6What is a CPU Core?Contains a number of microprocessors
- 7What is Cache?Cache is a type of computer memory which can be accessed much faster than RAM.
The CPU looks in the cache for the data it needs, retrieves it and processes. - 8What types of Cache are there?A level 1 (L1) cache is a memory bank built into the CPU chip.
A level 2 cache (L2) is a secondary staging area that feeds the L1 cache. - 9What is clock speed? The operating speed of a CPU, in cycles per second (megahertz).
- 10The speed of the clock determines what? The basic performance of the CPU- faster it goes the more powerful the computer.
