- 1TechnologyTechnology is about recognizing a problem that needs
to be solved, or recognizing something needs
improving and then building a tool to solve it. - 2Prototype"Prototype" is a fancy word that means a simple sketch of an idea or model for something new. It’s the original drawing from which something real might be built or created.
- 3Computer innovationIt is an innovation that includes a computer or program code as an integral part of its functionality.
- 4Decimal numbera base 10 number with ten possible different digits
- 5Binary numbera base 2 number with two possible different digits
- 6BitA contraction of "Binary Digit"; the single
unit of information in a computer, typically
represented as a 0 or 1 - 7Byte8 bits
- 8Nibble4 bits, half a byte
- 9Overflow ErrorError from attempting to represent a number that is too large.
- 10Round-off ErrorError from attempting to represent a number that is too precise. The value is rounded.
- 11Analog DataData with values that change continuously, or smoothly, over time. Some examples of analog data include music, colors of a painting, or position of a sprinter during a race.
- 12Digital DataData that changes discreetly through a finite set of possible values
- 13SamplingA process for creating a digital representation of analog data by measuring the analog data at regular intervals called samples.
- 14Lossless CompressionA process for reducing the number of bits needed to represent something without losing any information. This process is reversible.
- 15Lossy CompressionA process for reducing the number of bits needed to represent something in which some information is lost or thrown away. This process is not reversible.
