- 1Objectsinformation is isolated within specific systems.
- 2Classes– blueprint for a given object type
Includes trusted subroutines which track with what type of object it is - 3Interfacean abstract "class" that is used to group related methods with "empty" bodies
- 4Instances; InstantiateObjects are _________ of a class/we _________objects to create them
- 5Hierarchy; "is-a" relationshipa pumper is-a firetruck is-a truck is-a vehicle, a
professor is-a monster is-a lifeform - 6InheritanceWorking our way down the "is-a" ladder of hierarchies is ___________
- 7superThe word _________ is used to climb back up the "is-a" ladder of hierarchies
- 8Polymorphismsame code several object types, different behavior
- 9Overridesame name different signature (parameters, usually)
- 10Aggregationone object can have other objects as attributes
- 11Encapsulationhide details, contain things well
- 12Abstractionessential properties, hide complexity; allows us to declare something but not implement it at the same time/level
- 13Typedefines the flavor of data a variable holds –or, more formally, how the binary information is
interpreted (text? various kinds of number? etc) ; it also indicates the amount of memory used and
memory layout of the data. This is NOT unique to OO programming, it is a general term. - 14Object-oriented Programminga method of writing code that handles behavior and operations as
interactions between objects (object being a niftier word than “thing”; which is why we like “noun”
words for the names of objects). - 15The waterfall modelRequirements -> Design -> Implementation -> Verification -> Maintenance
