E.g LDA 50 store the value 50 into the register of the CPU - 9OpcodeThe opcode tells the processor the job that needs to be done. Opcode instructions are very limited in what they can tell the processors and a CPU's instruction set contains the opcodes it will except.
- 10OperandThe operand specifies the data that needs to be acted on. This can also refer to a place in memory, such as a register.
- 11Machine codeMachine code consists of coded instructions and data. Each instruction is stored as a pattern of bits and corresponds directly to an action carried out by the CPU.
- 12Assembly vs machineMnemonics is abbreviated instructions (e.g Load is LDA) whereas machine code uses binary for instructions.
