History Week Six Assignment 2

Bill of RIghts:

Became part of the Constitution on December 15, 1791. The Bill of RIghts was made because some people thought some of the basic rights was missing from the Constitution. That's how we we got the amendments.

Declaration of Independence:

Approved by Congress on July 4, 1776. Invoked "natural rights" that everybody was entitled to everybody (life liberty, and the pursuit of happiness). Also listed all of King George the third's grievances.

The authors proclaimed that the government should be fair to it's people, and if the government became to powerful the people had a right to overthrow the government and establish a new one based on their morals.

This leads to King George's grievances - or to why they wanted to be independent. The Declaration of Independence states that King George unfairly taxed them, the colonies has no representation in Parliment, and has not right

The authors defined "all men are created equal" by giving us natural rights, or the freedom to have "life liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". This leads, later on, to the Bill of Rights, which allows us rights in the amendments.

These documents and these definition gives the the right to do what ever we want (within the law). We have freedom of speech and we can choose whatever career we want to.

This definition will make people believe they are entitled to these rights and will make people fight for what we have today.
