Programmed decisions
Non-programmed decisions
A programmed decision is one that has been made in the past and therefore already has a way that it is gone about. It has a pre-defined routine and can be a regular occurrence.
A non-programmed decision is a decision that is not a normal one and has never been made before. It involves something that has never been done and a routine / solution to this decision is usually set up for if this happens in the future
An example of a programmed decision at Cistor is that when we get a purchase order from a customer we follow the same routine. We have to check that it is correct and then we load it onto Sage, Sharepoint and the Sales Tracker. This is so there is a log of everything important within the deal. If we decided not to load this the customer would not get their kit that they have ordered.
An example of a non-programmed decision at Cistor is when we started putting configurations on Expereo boxes. We had to figure out how to do this and ensure we used the right commands. We set up a process of what to do when we got the order to when it was shipped to the customer. This has now become a programmed decision.
