Sherman Antitrust Act passed in 1890. Tarbell's book inspired the breakup of the Standard Oil Trust, enforced by the Supreme Court.

"I aimed at the public's heart, and by accident I hit it in the stomach." He tried to raise awareness about the working conditions, but instead inspired the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 that makes sure that all food is safe to consume and that drugs are not giving falseified information.

Both worked for the greater good of all people.
