Initially Carabiniere Bacci doubted Marshal Guarnaccia's reliability because he suspected he was friends with the Silician mafia. Due to Marshal Guarnaccia illness he didn't get to participate as much in the investigation, nonetheless he was the one to find who was the murderer, which gave Bacci a good opinion of him, as well as his reassurance when he considered quitting the job.

Miss White was very passionate about poetry and took good care of her little museum, which interfered with the investigation, because she feared Cesarini would take it away if she told the police her suspicions since he was the owner of the apartment. That aside, she was willing to help with the investigation.

Bacci admired the Captain, which lead him to constantly seek for his approval. Due to his admiration, the Captain's opinion of him influenced Bacci on a professional and personal level.

The Captain suspected Signor Cesarini was the murderer because he thought the culprit lived in the building, plus he was an antique dealer.

Cipolla deeply trusted Marshal Guarnaccia, hence he called him after commiting the murder. He knew the Marshal would believe his history due to his compassionate nature. When Cipolla is invited to his house he already knew the Marshal realized the truth, but answered his questions honestly. Marshal considered the possibility the judges would say it was an accidental death and was willing to help him once he got out of prision.

Milena is married to Cipolla. She is a family oriented person, that’s why, when she found out she couldn't have children, she was unhappy. Cipolla didn’t want her to work, but she had to take a job as a housekeeper when she was diagnosed with a terminally ill to pay for her morphine.

Giovanna

Giovanna's first interaction with Bacci was while the police was interrogating the Englishman's neighbours, when she told them she heard two bangs at night. While Bacci was talking to the Cipriani's, Giovanna appeared not to respect Bacci limits by sitting on his legs, as well as fixating on his gun.

Signor Cesarini

Signior Cesarini ofered her a cleaning job at the Englishman's flat, that’s why she confronted Signor Cesarini and the Englishman about her delayed pay.
