1. Terms

   • Chitin: fiborous polysaccharide, makes cell wall of fungi
   • Yeast: microscopic fungus, reproduce by budding (single cell form)
   • Mold: fungus that grows in multicellular form (hypae)
   • Hyphae: long branched filaments, collectively a mycelium
   • Mycelium: vegetative part of fungus, consisting of hyphae network
   • Spore: rounded resistant form adopted by bacterial cells in adverse conditions
   • Dimorphic: fungi that exist as mold/hyphal/filamentamous/yeast
   • Saprophyte: a plant, fungus, or microorganism that lives on dead/decayed matter
   • Conidia: a spore produced asexually by various fungi at the tip of specialized hyphae
   • Ergosterol: steroid precrusor of D2 in cell membranes of fungi (CHL equivalent)
