Non-probability Sampling

1. Convenience Sampling

   • Whoever is convenient and accessible will be your audience

2. Quota Sampling

   • This is the NON probability version of stratified sampling
   • You choose strata that are relevant
   • Choose a fixed number of people for each stratum so that the group is proportionate to its representation in the population
   • With dimensional sampling, more than one set of strata are of interest

3. Purposive Sampling

   • In this type of sampling, you use your own discretion to select people of interest in each stratum into your study

4. Snowball Sampling

   • With this type of sampling, you find one person who meets the criteria and get them to refer friends

5. Mixed Sampling Designs

   • This is useful for when the population is really large
   • Non-probability sampling is used first to narrow down the sample, and then probability sampling is used to get a representative sample
