   • Proactive Interferance
     • Old memory interferes with a new one e.g. writing down your old house number instead of your new one.
   • Retroactive interferance
     • New memory interferes with an old one e.g. a teacher has learned a lot of new names this year and cannot recall the names of the students in her last year's class.
   • Effects of similarity
     • The similar the 2+ pieces of information, the interference is worse
