1. Motherboard

   • Main circuit board - Holds the CPU, memory, connectors to hard drive, expansion cards and ports such as USB ports - Connects directly or indirectly to every part of the computer

2. RAM

   • Short-term memory - Data is stored temporarily and disappears when the computer is switched off - Measured in megabytes or gigabytes

3. CPU

   • Also called a processor - Located inside the computer case in the motherboard - carries out commands

4. Hard Drive

   • Long-term storage - Data is saved even after turning computer off

5. Power supply unit

   • Converts the power from the wall outlet to use for different parts in the computer

6. Expansion slots

   • Expansion cards can be added. For example, video cards, sound cards, network cards and bluetooth cards
