   • Why people become emotionally attached to certain products
   • How to change human behavior through the use of emotive feedback

     • Taking into account the meaning and personal value of a product in a particular culture
   • Behavioral
     • Use and equates with the traditional values of usability
   • Visceral
     • Making products look, feel, and sound good

3. Expressive Interfaces

   • Emoticons, sounds, icons, and virtual agents
     • Convey emotional states
     • Elicit certain kinds of emotional responses in users

4. Annoying Interfaces

   • When something that should be simple to use or set turns out to be complex
     • Create negative emotional responses such as anger and disgust
       • Digital alarm clocks
       • Printers
       • Remote controls

5. Persuasive Technologies

   • Draw people's attention to certain kinds of information in an attempt to change what they do or think
     • Pop-up ads, warning messages, reminders, prompts, personalized messages, and recommendation

6. Anthropomorphism

   • The propensity people have to attribute human qualities to animals and objects

7. Zoomorphism

   • The shaping of an object or design in animal form
     • Furnishing technologies with personalities and other human-like attributes makes them more enjoyable and fun to interact with
