1. Masthead : ''V'' the top half is in the top half of the contents page which again is another consistent element in their magazine. Acts as a logo making the text more recognisable by the audience.

2. Language; the language used on this contents page is sophisticated and colloquial that gives references to songs such as ''heartbreak hotel'' by Elvis of which would be recognised by those who are culturally sophisticated. As well as this, the language used further promotes the subject in regards to what sort of person they are, so in this case it represents Kanye West as sophisticated and almost a new type of artist for what he does, whereas similar artists are not considered sophisticated and intelligent due how they are portrayed.

3. Features/Sub headings : Listed on the side along with page numbers that direct the audience directly to the cover stories. Targeting specific articles within the magazine.There are brief summaries of the content here which are positioned underneath sub headings this also follows the colour scheme of the mag. Page numbers are in bolder font = more important ?

4. Layout : Appears very minimalistic with its simple colour scheme being greyscale/monochromatic with the exception of the red heart. This alerts the audiences attention to the image that has been used perhaps this is the main article of the magazine. = elegant and classy. In addition to this, there is representation of how generally viewers read content from the left side to the right side and so in this case the most important aspects and elemetns of this content page are positioned on the left, which are then followed by subheadings and articles on the right side of the page.

   • As well as this, Vibe magazine has fragmented the title ‘’contents’’ of which is a consistent element throughout their publications. Makes this an established style for the magazine setting It apart from other magazines.This constructs meaning in regards to the type of magazine it is, this is because Vibe is not only a music magazine but also one of fashion and so the broken title connotes the idea of how Vibe as a company are trying to break out of stereotypical conventions of a music and fashion publication and instead merge them both together creating a new type of magazine.

5. Image : A mid shot has been used which is a typical shot used in fashion magazines as well as full body. The subject used here is presented to look vulnerable, the reason for this stems from his facial expression being straight-faced however its evident that he is looking directly at the viewer conveying the idea of intimidating the reader (maybe a marketing method to make the viewer feel they have to pick up the magazine) from here there is recognition of the red heart used which holds intrinsic value due to it being the only object used on the cover in colour. Perhaps this is to represent ambiguity within the frame to represent the subject having a hidden story of which may be the main article of the magazine increasing the viewers attention.

6. Typography; The typography used for this cover is a combination of sans serif and serif. I found that this was interesting because sans serif font is generally used as way to make an impact on the page, which expresses the representation of the artist used to have a heavy presence in the public eye for the viewers as well as having an effect in their career area, Kanye West is profoundly known for his contributions in music and also the fashion industry. However ''V'' magazine have also used serif font which is known to be a very classic font that exhibits extra strokes from the letters which make it appear more classy which represents the artist to be an old classic of which promotes him to be formal and relate to an older target audience as well as higher social grades.
