4. Yeasts

   • Unicellular
   • Macroscopic; Pasty colonies that resemble bacteria
   • Microscopic; Oval/Round that produce budding
   • In tissue appear pseudohyphae
     • chain of easily disrupted fungal cells that is intermediate between a chain of budding cells and a true hypha, marked by constrictions rather than septa at the junctions.

   • Multicellular
   • Macroscopic; Pigmentation seen on reverse and surface texture is variable.
   • Microscopic; Hyphae with spores
