1. processor

   • the processor is the brains of the computer(processes data)carrys out instructions.
     • measured in hertz
       • 2ghz processor executes 2billion instructions per second
   • each processor has a core;a processor could have multi core for e.g dual core,quad core,8 core
   • cache;this is very fast and usually a very small amount on memory on the processor chip
     • the cache holds commonly used instructions

2. embedded systems

   • a system that is made up of both hardware and software
     • mainly used for very specialised tasks
       • doesnt usually contain an operating system

3. computer systems: internal components and external components

4. main memory

   • ROM-read only memory
     • bootstrap is held in rom(it contains instructions to start up the operating system)
