PERIODIC TABLE
- Developed by Greek philosophers, John Dalton (1803), JJ Thomson (1897, Plum pudding theory), and Rutherford (1911)
- JJ Thomson (plum pudding) discovered positive & negative particles inside atom. Said they were evenly spread out.
- Rutherford found atoms were mostly empty space and had a positive centre.
ATOMS
- comprise of protons (p+) neutrons (n) and electrons (e-)
- Element is determined by atomic number. Mass of atom is shown by mass number.
- Atomic no = no p+
