Kinds of Echinoderms
Echinoderms are a phylum of exclusively marine and benthic deuteron animals. Its name alludes to its exclusive internal skeleton formed by calcareous ossicles. They have secondary pentarradial symmetry, unique case in the animal kingdom, and a characteristic aquiferous vascular system.
- Classification of Echinoderms Asteroid class which are the starfish. Class Ofiuroidea which are the offices. Echinoid class which are the sea urchins. Class Crinoid which are the sea lilies or comatulas. Class Holoturioidea which are the holoturias.
- Asteroid class that are the starfish: Asteroids or starfish, are a class of the Echinodermata edge of pentaradial symmetry, flattened body formed by a pentagonal disk with five arms or more. The name "starfish" refers essentially to members of the Asteroid class.
- Class Ophiuroidea that are the offices: The ofiuroideos or offices are a class of the edge Echinodermata. They have pentarradial symmetry and look like starfish, with five arms coming out of a central disc. Surely, ofiuroids and asteroids are sister groups.
- Echinoid class of sea urchins: Echinoids, commonly known as sea urchins, are a class of the phylum Echinoderms. They are globular or discoidal in shape, lack arms and have an external skeleton
- Crinoid class that are the sea lilies or comatulas: The crinoid class includes sea lilies and feathery stars. It is a class that is included within the Echinodermata phylum, where we can also find sea stars (asteroids), sea cucumbers (holoturias), ofiuridea and sea urchins (echinoids).
- Class Holothuroidea which are the holoturias: The holoturias or holoturoids, commonly known as cucumbers, cucumber, sea turd, pollaburro or sea cuckoo, are a class of the phylum Echinoderms which include animals with elongated and soft vermiform bodies that live in the depths of the seas around the world.
