1. TIME SCALE

   • Project must be completed within a year.

2. STORAGE

   • Must be able to store small items.
   • Must have room to store a laptop table.

3. CLIENT

   • Female.
   • Suitable for all ages but more targeted towards students.

4. TOOLS/EQUIPMENT

   • Metal ruler.
   • Drill.
   • Apron.
   • Bench hook.
   • Saws
     • Hack saw.
       • Used to cut metals.
     • Tenon saw.
       • Used to cut straight lines and usually mortise and tenon joints.
     • Coping saw.
       • Used to cut intricate external shapes and interior cuts.
     • Scroll saw.
       • Used to cut intricate curves or corners.
   • Safety goggles.
   • Try square.
   • Files
     • Metal file.
     • Wood file.

5. FUNCTION

   • Easy to assemble and disassemble.
   • Stores small objects and stationery.
   • Can be stored away when not in use.

6. PRODUCT LIFE SPAN

   • The easel prototype should have a long life span due to its high durability.

7. DURABILITY

   • Should not break when being opened or closed.
   • Use good quality materials to ensure the product can be used for a long time with little wear and tear.

8. SIZE

   • Portable
   • The prototype needs to be big enough to fit a large canvas on the main body of the easel but also small enough so that it is still lightweight and easy to move around.
   • Should be lightweight.

9. ERGONOMICS

   • Easy to use.
   • Specific shaped handles to make it easy for the user to open and close (draw and the table mechanism).
   • Easy to open and close.

10. FINISHES

    • Varnish
      • Used to create a glossy finish and also waterproofing.
    • Wax
      • Used to fill any imperfections to make the surface smooth and also waterproofing.
    • Spray paint
      • Used to create a smooth looking finish and also waterproofing.
    • Acrylic paint
      • Used to add a colour finish but can't be used for waterproofing.
    • Polymers
      • Used to create a smooth looking finish as they're self finishing

      • Simplistic design.
      • Most woods are lightweight.
      • Sourced sustainably.

      • Cheap.
      • Not sourced sustainably.

    • Incorporate an aspect of my client's favourtie colours.

    • It must not cost more than £100 to make.

    • No small parts or choking hazards.

    • Quality assurance and control measures in place.

    • Product to be manufactured from recycled materials.
    • 6 Rs - reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, rethink and refuse.
