THE CONDITIONALS

1. CONDICIONAL 0

   • Para hechos o verdades que siempre ocurren
   • Cláusulas en el Presente Simple
     • Example:  If you heat ice, it melts. If clause: "If you heat ice... --> Conjugación para el sujeto YOU. Main clause: ...it melts" --> Conjugación para el pronombre sujeto IT.
     • Afirmativo
     • Negativo
     • Interrogativo
   • Se usa con el modal CAN y el IMPERATIVO
     • Example: 1.If she doesn´t attend class, she can email the teacher. 2. If you are tired, go home. 

2. Cláusulas

   • Example: If I close my eyes, I can´t see. If I close my eyes--> if clause. I can´t see-->main clause.
   • If clause: La condición
   • Main clause: El resultado

3. CONDICIONAL-1

   • Para hablar de una posibilidad real en el futuro
     • Se utiliza para hablar de una acción que es posible que ocurra en el futuro siempre y cuando se cumpla la condición.
   • Cláusulas
     • Examples: 1. If you come to the party, you will meet my sister. If clause:  If you come to the party,... --> "You come".Main clause: ...you will meet my sister. --> "will meet."
     • If clause: Presente Simple
     • Main clause: Futuro (auxiliar WILL)
   • Se puede usar el modal CAN o MAY (En lugar de WILL)
     • Examples: 1. If I don´t have to work on Saturday, we can go to the cinema. 2. If she studies hard for the exam, she may get a good grade.

4. CONDICIONAL-2

   • Se usa para hablar de situaciones irreales en el presente
     • Se describen como imaginarias y es improbable que ocurran.
   • Cláusulas
     • If clause: Pasado Simple.
       • Observación: Si contiene al verbo TO BE no se usa WAS, sólo WERE.
     • Main clause: El verbo usa el auxiliar WOULD
       • Afirmativo
         • Example: 1. If I had a lot of money, I would travel to different countries.  If clause: If I had a lot money...  --> "I had". Main clause: ...I would travel to different countries.  --> "Would travel".
         • Example: If he were more tolerant, he would have fewer problems.
       • Negativo
         • Example:  If I had a lot money I wouldn´t work in this company.
       • Interrogativo
         • Example: Would you marry me if I asked you?
   • Se puede usar el modal COULD (En lugar de WOULD)
     • Example: 1. If I had a screwdriver, I could fix the computer.
