COORDINATE GEOMETRY

1. Cartesian System

   • Meaning
     • To describe the position of point in a plane
   • Two perpendicular lines
     • X-axis
       • Abscissa
     • Y-axis
       • Ordinate
   • Fixed point
     • Point where X and Y axis intersect
       • O(0,0)

2. Quadrants

   • Plane divided by into 4 parts by co-ordinate axis

3. STEP 1: Draw co-ordinate axis and selected units

   • STEP 2: Starting from origin count units on X and Y axis
     • STEP 3: Mark the corresponding points

4. Graph-Linear Equation

   • STEP 1: Convert given equation in the form y = mx + c
     • STEP 2: Select atleast 3 values of x such that x,y=1
       • STEP 3 : Draw table for the ordered pair
         • STEP 4: Plot these ordered points on the graph paper
           • STEP 5: Draw straight line passing through plotted points
