1. They occupy a central place as tools to obtain information on the situation of the existing system in a project of analysis and design of information and knowledge systems.

2. They are mainly used when the number of people to be investigated is very large or when their geographical dispersion is such that real or virtual interviews are physically and economically impossible.

3. Use: They can be used to be sent by traditional or electronic mail, to be placed in Web sites and to be answered by Internet or to be delivered and answered directly by the respondents. The routes will depend on the possibilities and needs of researchers and respondents.

4. Advantages: In addition to those already mentioned, it has other advantages over interviews: its low cost, speed and ubiquity.

5. Its major disadvantages in relation to interviews are the fact that it does not allow the collection of informal information based on observations, as in the case of interviews.
