The simple present time

1. The present simple in English is the indicated tense when you want to express any of the following conditions:

   • Make known permanent actions or states

2. Let's establish some key conditions so that you can use and express yourself correctly with the present simple:

   • When you want to communicate permanent states or actions.
     • Example: The earth is the third planet from the sun.
   • By manifesting states or situations that are routine or actions that have periodicity.
     • Example: Every ten years is a decade.
   • To talk about habits, routines or events that are repeated in certain periods of time.
     • Example: I drink coffee every morning.
   • When you give directions, instructions and signals.
     • Example: You go down this street to the cinema, then you turn right.

3. In the present simple when we speak of the third person singular "he, she, it" we add an "s" or "es" at the end of the verb in affirmative sentences.

   • Examples:
     • Work Works Know Knows Speak Speaks
   • And when they end in "ch, sh, x, or ss" we only add "es" to the verbs at the end.
     • Example:
       • catch catches wash washes mix mixes miss misses
   • When the verb ends in a consonant "y" we change it to "i" and also add "es".
     • Example:
       • Study Studies Try Tries Fry Fries
   • In the case of these verbs go, do, only “es” is added.
     • Example:
       • go goes do does
