Quality criteria, research ethics, and other research issues

1. Quality criteria for research

   • Quatitative research
     • Internal Validity
       • This is the confidence that we can place in the cause and effect relationship in a scientific research
     • External Validity
       • Refers to how well data and theories from one setting apply to other
     • Objectivity
       • One of the most cherished ideals of the educational research community
     • Reability
       • The quality or state of being reliable
   • Qualitative research
     • Confirmability
       • To assume that each researcher brings a unique perspective to sudy
     • Dependability
       • Is based on the assumptions replicability or repeatibility
     • Transferability
       • Refers to the degree to which the results can be generalized or transferred
     • Credibility
       • Estableced that the results of qualitative research are credible or believables from the perspective of the participant in the research

2. Research ethics

   • Your own research: to help you write research proposal, apply for ethics approval or deal with ethics dilemmas that a rise during a project
   • Undergraduate studies: as a resource for students for research methods undergraduate research projects
   • Research supervision: to help your student negotiate ethics at different resposabilities
