   • 1/7+ 4/21
     • need to find a common denominator, in this instance 21.
       • 3/21 + 4/21 = 7/21
         • ALLWAYS! simplify when possible
           • 7/21 = 1/3

2. subtracting

   • 7/8 - 3/4
     • need to find a common denominator, in this instance 8
       • 7/8 - 6/8 = 1/8
         • ALLWAYS! simplify when possible

3. algebraic fractions

   • dividing
   • multiplying

4. multiplying

   • simply times the numerators together and the denominators together
     • ALLWAYS! simplify when possible

5. dividing

   • KFC =Keep Flip Change
     • keep the first two numbers, flip the numerator and denominator round and then change the dividing sign to a times sign
