Super Smash Bros Algorithm
Prescribed Criteria
- 1. Develop an Algorithm using Pseudocode conventions
- Develop an algorithm for one of the Nintendo games- Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart
- Pseudocode conventions must be used in the algorithm. Such as all keywords must be written in bold and capital, use indentation when a code belongs to a particular block of code, START and END at the beginning and end of the algorithm.
- Keywords of Pseudocode ( IF, ELSIF, ELSE, WHILE, ENDWHILE, IS EQUAL TO, START, END, THEN
- 2. Super Smash Bros
- 2. Develop an ultimate high damage finishing offensive strategy to eliminate the opponent
- The moves should result in the opponent being eliminated
- The strategy should be offensive, which means that we do not need to create defensive moves
- For Super Smash Bros create a high damage strategy
- Use five condiditons (IF, ELSEIF, ELSE, WHILE,) in your pseudocode 5 different moves.
- The pseudocode must include 5 unique moves to damage the opponent using IF, ELSIF and ELSE
- Offensive high damage moves 1. DASH attack – 15.6% 2. Back throw 16.8 % 3. Down smash -19.2 % 4. Up smash- 20.4 % 5. Forwards smash 24%
- 2. Develop an ultimate high damage finishing offensive strategy to eliminate the opponent
- 1. Develop an Algorithm using Pseudocode conventions
Algorithm constructs
- sequence
- Sequence is a set of instruction that must go in order for the program
- e.g., Sequence for Incineroar Smash moveset: Forward smash, Up smash, Down smash
- Sequence is a set of instruction that must go in order for the program
- Assignment
- an instruction that stores or updates a value in a variable.
- E.g. player_ID = Mario. Here the variable of player_ID has been given the value of Mario
- an instruction that stores or updates a value in a variable.
- iteration
- a control structure that allows a set of instructions to be repeated multiple times until a specific stopping condition is met.
- IF i FROM 1 TO 3 OUTPUT "Hello, world!" ENDFOR
- a control structure that allows a set of instructions to be repeated multiple times until a specific stopping condition is met.
- selection
- different actions instead of running instructions in order
- Distance <5 THEN move forward. In this instance, if the distace is smaller than 5, than the character moves forward
- different actions instead of running instructions in order
- condition
- A condition is a logical test that evaluates true of false. It sets out the condition that must be true in order for the program to move forward
- e.g. IF time > 5 minutes, THEN late. here the condition is that the time must be longer than 5 minutes for the next step to begin.
- A condition is a logical test that evaluates true of false. It sets out the condition that must be true in order for the program to move forward
- sequence
Character choices
- Incineror
- pros
- High and explosive damage outputs, dealing massive knockback to opponents
- Heavy, can resist big explosive attacks
- cons
- Slowest run speed in the whole game
- Because of his slow speed and big body, he is trapped in big comboes often
- pros
- Pikachu
- pros
- High mobility
- Tiny hitboxes
- cons
- Very light (dies to hardhits frequently)
- Attacks have short range
- pros
- Incineror
Hardware
- Nintendo
- A Nintendo Switch is a hybrid video game console that plays games either on a television at home or on-the-go as a portable handheld device.
- joycon remote
- The remote to power the game
- screen
- displays the game on the screen (this could be a tv, monitor or just the nintento switch screen
- SSB game card or downloaded game
- A Super Smash Bros. (SSB) game card for the Nintendo Switch is a physical cartridge that stores and plays the full Super Smash Bros. Ultimate video game when inserted into the console
- Joycon holder
- It slides the two small Joy-Cons into a larger plastic shell with contoured handles so they feel and handle like a standard console controller
- Nintendo
Game options
- Super Smash Bros
- reason for selections
- i like the unique concept rather than a typical HP bar, the game uses knockback to eliminate people
- Cross development between nintendo and Masahiro Sakurai
- Can be multiplayer and singleplayer
- players use attacks to build up damage percentages on opponents and knock them off the edge of the stage.
- reason for selections
- Mario cart
- Super Smash Bros
Chosen character
- Incineror
- Chosen Moves
- 1. Alolan Whip (Side Special) 24% damage – A command grab where incineroar whips his opponent into wrestling ropes.
- 2. Darkest Lariat (standard Special) 19% damage – A spinning torso tornado that grants upper-body invulnerability and arm intangibility. It is a move that shreds shield and catches aggressive approaches.
- 3. Cross Chop (Up Special) 18.6% damage – incineroar diagonally into the sky and rockets straight down, ending in a high damage explosion
- 4. Revenge (down special) 2.8% damage, with an additional affect of a 3x multiplier for incineroar’s next attack.
- 5. Max Malicious Moonsault (53-60% damage)- dash and grabs opponent, followed by 4 multi-hit cinematic strikes ending in a massive explosion that blasts the target and nearby opponents.
- Why i selected this character
- Incineroar is known for having one of the greatest attacks in the game, resulting in massive damage outputs
- Chosen Moves
- Incineror
