Word meaning

1. Lexical semantics: Represent the meaning of each word in the language and show how the meaning of words are interrelated

2. Words and grammatical categories: names, common nouns, pronouns and logical words (not, and, or, all, etc)

3. Collocation: The tendency of words to occur together repeatedly

    • Simple antonyms is the relation between words that the negative of one implies the positive of another. The pairs are known as complementary of binary pairs
      • Gradable antonyms is the relationship between opposites where the positives of one term does not necessarily imply the negative of the other
        • Reverses is the relation between terms describing movement
          • Converses are terms which describe a relation between two entities from alternative points of view
            • Taxonomic sister. We use words that are at the same level in taxonomy, for example: colors

13. Hyponymy is a relation of inclusion. The general word is called superodinate or hyperonym.

14. Meronymy is a term used to describe a part-whole relationship between lexical items.

15. Member collection is the relationship between the word for a unit and the usual word for a collectionof the units

16. Portion-mass is the relation between a mass noun and the usual unit of measurement or division
