Data Types and Arrays

1. Data Types

   • integer- a positive or negative whole number
   • real - numbers that have decimal places
   • character- stores a single character that can be a letter number or symbol
   • string- stores an alphanumeric piece of date joined together
   • boolean- true/false, 1/0, yes/no, on/off etc.

2. Arrays

   • An array is a data structure that allows you to hold several variables, all of the same type, with one name
     • There may be a situation where lots of variables are needed to hold similar and related data
   • Lists are data structures similar to arrays that allow data of more than one data type.
