RAM ROM and VIRTUAL MEMORY

1. RAM stands for Random Access Memory

   • This means it is the memory used by the programs that are running
   • The RAM is used to store instructions that are sent to the CPU to be decoded and executed

2. ROM stands for Read Only Memory

   • This means that it cannot be altered, it can only be read like a movie or a song
   • It is non volatile

3. Volatile storage means it is wiped after the computer is turned off

4. Cache and RAM are volatile

5. Virtual Memory is an extension of the RAM that works just like the RAM

   • It is set up on the Hard Drive using a page file

6. WHERE THEY ARE STORED
