1. Emotions and the User Experience

   • Emotional interaction is concerned with how we feel and react when interacting with technology.
     • It covers different aspects of the user experience.
       • From how we feel when first finding out about a new product to gettin rid of it.
   • Emotional interaction is about considering what makes us happy, sad, annoyed, etc.
     • Using this knowledge to inform the design of different aspects of the user experience.

2. Expressive Interfaces

   • Expressive forms like emoticons, sounds, icons have been used at the interface to convey emotional states.
     • Icons and animations have been used to indicate the current state of a computer or a phone, notably when it is waking up or being rebooted.
       • The style of an interface ing terms of the shapes, fonts colors, and balance are used and the way they are combined, can also influence its emotional impact.

3. Annoying Interfaces

   • Computer interfaces may inadvertently elicit negative emotional responses such as anger and disgust.
     • This typically happens when something that should be simple house use turns out to be complex.

4. Detecting Emotions and Emotional Technologies

   • The approach called affective computing develops computer based systems that try to recognize and express emotions in the same way urns do.
     • Forms to reveal the emotional state of someone by automated facial coding, speech, phrases when tweeting, chatting online.

5. Persuasive Technologies and Behavioral Change

   • Adversity of technologies is increasingly being used to draw peoples attention to certain kinds of information in an attempt to change what they do or think.
     • Pop-up ads waning messages and prompts are some of the methods that are being deployed on computer screens.

6. Anthropomorphism and Zoomorphism

   • Anthropomorphism is the propensity people have to attribute human qualities to animals and objects
     • Zoomorphism is the shaping of an object or design in animal form.
