Ram & Rom memory
- ROM
- ROM: is a type of data storage which saves data that is
required for the computer to boot up and run
- ROM: stands for Read Only Memory
- ROM: is long term memory in the computer
- there are three types off ROM: PROM EPROM EEPROM
- PROM is programmable ROM it can be erased
only once with a high voltage machine
- EPROM electrical programmable so can be rewritten using UV radiation
- EEPROM is basically flash drives in modern day and do
not need these machine to rewrite it
- RAM
- RAM: stands for Random Access Memory
- RAM: allows data to be read quickly
to run applications
- RAM: is short term meorory that
deletes every time computer is
tuned off
- there are two types of RAM static and dynamic
- static RAM has more storage and is more expensive
- dynamic RAM has less memory and is therefore cheaper
- VOLITILE
- VOLITILE: is memory that is deleted when
power is turned off
- NON-VOLITILE: the memory is still stored
even when power is turned off
