1. Tables

   • Store the data itself

2. Reports

   • Used to format the output of data from tables or queries in a user friendly way - mainly for printing

3. Forms

   • Easily created using 'wizards'
   • input and output records
   • presented in a user friendly way
   • command buttons
   • edited using a form editor
   • can be enhanced and additional text added
   • Best approach is to: create the basic form using wizard, then modify it.
   • Add records, modify records, delete records
   • the changes are made automatically
   • Note: be careful when deleting records.

4. Queries

   • used to answer questions about the data. Can extract and displayrecords which match certain criteria.
   • answer questions about your data
   • can be used to view, alter and analyse data from one or more tables in a database.
   • source of records in forms or reports
   • required data is displayed
   • can be saved for future use.
   • Criteria
     • Wildcards
       • * matches any number of characters or more
       • ? matches exactly one character
     • maths operators
       • or , and
       • >(greater than) <(less than)
       • between ...and... (can be numbers or dates)
