1. What does it do

   • it is used to create documents on the www
     • it defines the layout of a web page using tags
     • WWW:world wide web

2. what is it

   • hypertext markup language
     • hypertext refers to the hyperlinks that a HTML page may contain
     • markup language refers to the way tags are used to show the contents of the page
   • it is the language used the write web pages
   • it describes the layout of a web page

3. tags

   • the root of a HTML document
   • used to specify that the document is HTLM
   • <i> italics
   • <b> bold
   • <a> anchor
   • </title> means that the next piece of text will be a title
     • good for accessibility
   • <!DOCTYPE>
   • <h1> to <h6>
