   • read only memory
     • non-volatle
     • used to store the bios / bootstrap loader

   • central processing unit
     • the device used to control and execute commands within the computer

3. ram

   • random access memory
     • volatle
     • a place where data and instructions that are currently in use by the cpu or have recently been used or stored

   • gets emptied when power is turnd of

   • permeant software programmed to rom

6. non-volatle

   • doesn't loose the data when the device is turnd of

7. bios

   • basic imput and out put system contains programs to load the hardware

8. disk thrashing

   • when a computing virtual memory subsystem is in a constant state of paging

9. dynamic ram

   • contains 1 transistors and capacitor that hold charge briefly

10. static ram

    • uses 5 transistors which are wired together to represent each bit

11. bootstrap loader

    • a small program that that loads the operating system

12. flash memory

    • electrons are forced into a layer between two barriers which hold the charge by using a higher electric current

13. virtual memory

    • when ram if full , a section of the hard drive can be used to store programs and instructions

14. primary memory

    • memory used to store data and instructions that are required by the cpu
