1. Passwords Protection

   • Strong Passwords
     • Long enough (min 8 characters)
     • Include capitals
     • Include numbers
     • Don't use personal information
     • Special Characters

2. Firewalls

   • Software or Hardware
   • Controlss what data can pass through it

3. Access Rights and Permissions

   • Read the data
   • Copy
   • Edit the Data

4. Physical Protection

   • Locks on doors
     • Card
       • RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)
     • Keypad
     • Key
     • Bimetrics (fingerprint and retina scanner)
   • Security Guards
   • Location of stored data (upstairs or our of sight)
   • GPS tracking

5. Encryption

   • If data has been stolen encryption prevents the data being used.
   • Data is encrypted (scrambled)
   • Only if you have the key you can decrypt the data

6. Backup data

   • Make a copy of the data
   • Should be stored away from the original data
