Pseudocode Challenges

  1. Challenge 1

    • Prescribed Critera
      • 4x4 Grid Map
        • The grid is much larger than 3x3 which creates 4 center squares.
          • Therefore, the center squares are 5,6,7,8
      • 3 Health Points
        • The players health will be set to three.
          • This was achieved by declearing a new variable called health.
            • The value was set to 3 to meet the prescribed criteria.
    • Constraints/Limitations
      • Lack of pseudocode knowledge
        • Having a lack of pseudocode knowledge means it is going to take more time.
          • Higher Chances of Errors in the pseudocode.
            • Could lower overall mark.
      • Lack of Time
        • Not using time efficiently could lead to rushing the assignment.
          • This means there are higher chances of errors.
            • Could lead to an overall lower mark .
    • Functional Requirements
      • When the user starts the game it randomly selects a new map.
        • This has been acheived by using a random interger generator.
          • This was possible as the mapLoc values were set to 1,2,3,4
            • This method created 25% chance on landing on one of the 4 tiles.
    • Available resources
      • Internet

            • Leads to an overall better result.
    • Ideation
      • Dice Roll Method
        • This method is when you generally use to dice to create the random selection function.
          • Much more complex and inefficient.
            • This idea wasn't used.
      • random integer method
        • This method is used by letting the MapLoc becomes values and randomly select one.
          • Simple and efficient
            • This idea would be perfect for the challenge.
    • Non-Functional requirements
      • Correct Pseudocode Format
        • Correct format must be used so it is easier to use.
          • This can lead to better results.
  2. Challenge 2

    • Prescribed Criteria
      • Max of 5 health
        • The maximum health will be set to 5
          • This has been done by declaring a health variable and setting it to 5.
      • Baker will give loaf of bread
        • talk to baker.
          • If player in bakery map location.
            • The baker gives you a loaf of bread.
            • Action: Add bread into backpack.
          • If player not in bakery map location.
            • The output will be the baker is not here.
            • Action: None
      • Backpack
        • Backpack contains bread.
          • Input: Eat Bread
            • Output: You eat the bread.
            • Actions: Remove bread from backpack an increases player's health by 1 (if not already at full health)
        • No bread in backpack.
          • Input: eat bread
            • Output: You are not carrying the bread.
            • Actions:None
    • Constraints/Limitations
      • Lack of knowledge.
        • Lack of knowledge means the task is going to take longer.
          • The most efficient methods may not be used.
            • Can lead to a lower mark if research isn't done properly.
      • Lack of time.
        • Not being time efficient will lead to rushing the task.
          • This would lead to a lower mark as there is not much time.
    • Functional Requirements
      • The user will be able to talk to baker and eat loaf of bread.
