     • Positivists like to observes key principles or concepts of society as empirical patterns or regularity
   • Sees society as a objective factual reality - it is a real 'thing' that is made up of social facts and every thing like stars etc. really exists out there
   • Sociologist can discover laws that determine how society works, This method is know as 'induction' or 'inductive reasoning'.
     • Induction consists of accumlataing data and careful observation and measurement
