Semantic classification of verbs

1. Telic

   • Represent events that have a natural the end point, the accomplishment of some purpose, or a change of state.

2. Atelic

   • Represent events as having no natural end-state or product

3. Punctual

   • Represent events that take just a point of time. (Temporary)

4. Durative

   • Represent events that take a period of time and indicate progress.

5. Activity

   • Represent activities (situations that can change)

6. State

   • Represent states (unchanging situations)

7. Mental states and actiivties

   • Represent mental states and activities, are common in conversation and fiction.

8. Change of state

   • Describe change from one state to another.

9. Movement

   • Show movement from/to somewhere

10. Aspect

    • Denote parts, facets, or aspects of events.

11. Communication

    • Have to do with communication (how someone communicates )
