Programming languages
Low-level language
- These type of languages are very complicated to code on and are not really used by most people.
- Machine code
- Machine code is written in binary and it is the most basic yet still very complicated, it is the code that can be read by hardware (the CPU) and all other types of code get translated to machine code.
- Assembly code
- An assembly code is a more readable version of machine code, with storage locations, jump targets and subroutine addresses, but doesn’t expand further.
- Machine code
- These type of languages are very complicated to code on and are not really used by most people.
High-level language
- These languages can be used in different types of machines, but are not as efficient as low-level languages
- Most common programming languages (Java, C, C++, Python, etc.) are considered high-level languages since their purpose is being able to be read and written easily by programmers
- They are very convenient although they are removed from the computer that runs them.
- All high-level languages get translated to machine code for the machine to be able to execute the program, and often a compiler is used to do so.
- These languages can be used in different types of machines, but are not as efficient as low-level languages
