  4. TEXT APPLICATION

    • Conditional clauses are used to speculate about what might have happened, what might have happened, and what we would like to have happened. In English, most sentences that make use of the conditional tense contain the term if. Many conditional forms in the English language are used in sentences that include past tense verbs. This type of usage is known as the "unreal past", as we use tense in the past without referring to something that happened in the past. There are five main ways to construct conditional clauses. In all cases, these sentences are composed of an "if" clause and a main clause. In many negative conditional clauses, there is an equivalent alternative construction that uses "unless" in place of "if".
    • Conditional type zero:The "zero conditional" is used when the time we refer to is now or always, and the situation is real and possible. This type of conditional is generally used to indicate general facts.
    • TYPE 1: The "type 1 conditional" is used to refer to the present or future when the situation is real. This type of conditional indicates a possible condition and its likely outcome.
    • TYPE 2: The "type 2 conditional" is used to refer to a period of time that can be now or anytime, and to a situation that is unreal. These sentences are not based on any facts. The type 2 conditional is used to indicate a hypothetical condition and its likely outcome.
    • TYPE 3: The "type 3 conditional" is used to indicate a period of time that is in the past, and a situation that is contrary to reality. These prayers are based on facts opposite to what is being expressed. Type 3 conditional is used to refer to an unreal condition in the past and its likely outcome in the past.
    • Mixed conditional: The "mixed type conditional" is used to indicate a period of time that is in the past, and a situation that continues to occur in the present. These prayers are based on facts opposite to what is being expressed. Mixed conditional clauses are used to refer to an unreal condition in the past and its likely outcome in the present
