COORDINATE GEOMETRY

1. Initially developed by the french philosopher Rene Descartes

2. Deals with locating position of points in a plane

   • This study is also used for  location and navigation.

3. Main elements are cartesian plane,coordinates ,abscissa,ordinates,origin and the quadrants

4. The main elements are labeled in the below node

   • • In the above picture(0,0) is the origin (1/2,-3) is the coordinates and the 4 divided parts are called the quadrant
       • Now let us talk about abscissa and ordinate suppose take a point (x,y) in this coordinate x is called the abscissa and y is the ordinate
         • Now lets talk about the signs of coordinates in the different quadrants in the 1st quadrant the sign is (+,+) in the second quadrant the sign is (-,+) in the third quadrant the sign is (-,-) and in the fourth quadrant sign is (+,-)
