App vs Desktop Virtualization

App vs Desktop Virtualization

1. DESKTOP Virtualization

   • Offers great flexibility to virtual infrastructure
     • A richer and consistent desktop experience
       • Maintenance of applications is difficult
         • Cost can be a concern depending on the use case
           • Apps are still tied into the underlying OS
             • Gives users the experience of a complete desktop
               • Causes more impact on underlying hardware
                 • Access management is difficult

2. APPLICATION Virtualization

   • Lesser level of flexibility in comparison
     • Experience differs from application to application
       • Allows easier maintenance of applications
         • Cost-effective solution
           • Fully isolates the app from OS
             • Application specific experience
               • Lower impact on the hardware
                 • Access management is comparatively easier
