Amount of RAM
- Than more amount of RAM than more programs can be opened at the same time without affecting perfomance
CPU - Clock speed, cache, number of cores
- CPU with a higher clock speed will have more fetch decode execute cycles can be processed per second
- CPU that have more cache will access frequently used data quicker.
- CPU with more cores will processed more instructions at once
Type of Hard drive
- SSD
- SSD - have better read/write speed, better durability. More cost and less capacity
- HDD
- Will have a much slower read/write speed, loss durability but more cheaper and have better capacity
- SSD
factors that affect the performance of computers
Client-server network
- What is it? A client-server network is a communications model in which multiple client programs share the services of a common server program.
- All devices are managed/controlled by a server Can install software across the network Share printers with certain computers Control the access of computers to the Internet
- Why it is better than peer to peer network? Keep track of files, perform backups , install and update software , manage network security / user access levels / anti malware software
Peer to peer network
- peer-to-peer network, all computers have equal status. There are no servers or clients. Peers store their own files, which can be accessed by other peers on the network
Protocols are a set of rules for how computers should communicate across a network
Constructs
- Sequence a set of instructions in order
- Selection instructions which which will run depending on a condition being true or false. ( gives choice else, else if)
- Iteration Instructions which can repeat (either a set number of times or depending on a condition being true or false)
DIV ): Uses floor division to return an integer value. MOD : Returns the remainder after division
Standards
- technical publication created to ensure the reliability of the materials, products, methods, and/or services
WANs
- networks are connected over a large geographical area. WANs connect using a modem.
LANs
- A LAN is when devices are connected over a small geographical area You can connect to a LAN using WiFi or Ethernet
WPANs
- A WPAN allows us to pair devices together over a short range. Connected by bluetooth
Truth Tables / logic gates
- Truth table show output for each possible input
- OR gates
- AND gates
- Not gates
What affects on performance of the network?
- Bandwidth
- WAP
- Number of users
- If so big number of users therefore slower transmission data, more time used to transmitted data. Router/Switch/ Central device would have more requests therefore run slowly
- Using Wi-Fi or Ethernet
- Quality of hardware
User interfaces
- CLI ( Command line interface)
- Cons. It is takes less memory than GUI, don't need windows for run, have less resolution
- Can be difficult for new users, if you make mistake in command, it is will not work, very large of the command that you need to learn
- GUI ( graphical user interface
- Cons. It is easier to use for most amount of users, it is have visual interface , it is interactive.
- Pros. It is takes much more CPU memory than CLI
- CLI ( Command line interface)
