- My story must have at least 10 different variables
- Requirement 1: There must be an input function so that I can use a variable to store the user's answer.
- Requirement 2: Each variable should have a different name.
- Requirement 3: All the variables must have a value assigned to them (they can be empty at the start but they have to be defined later in the code.)
- There must be at least two choices for each input
- Requirement 1: There must be an input function.
- Requirement 2: The options should be listed clearly and spelt correctly.
- Requirement 3: The program must print the question before providing the two choices.

- Requirement 3: Each variable will have a distinct name and use camelCase.
- My story must have at least 10 different variables
Self-Determined Criteria
- At the end of the game, there needs be an option at to either give up or try again.
- Requirement 1: The code will be placed inside a WHILE Loop and the code will continue running until the answer is not equal to yes
- Requirement 2: There will be two choices: yes or no
- Requirement 3: The input function will need to be used so that the user can respond to the question.
- Requirement 4: The variable name for this input needs to be used consistently throughout the code.
- The aim of the game and other important details need to be clearly stated and explained at the beginning.
- Requirement 1: Before the game begins, the user will be asked if they want to see the rules.
- Requirement 2: An input function and variable will be used, allowing the player to either read the rules or start playing the game.
- Requirement 3: All the different adventure courses, player lives and the aim of each adventure will be clearly explained.
- At the end of the game, there needs be an option at to either give up or try again.
Ideas for Story
- Player lives
- At the start of the game, the player will receive 3 lives. This will prevent them from quickly dying easily as they have 3 chances. After all the lives have been used, the player fails the adventure and they can either end the game or play again. This will make the challenges in the game easier and less frustrating for the player, improving their overall experience.
- An example of this is: "You have 3 lives" (at the start) "You accepted the drink from the old lady, which turned out to be poisonous, making you extremely ill. You now have 2 more lives." (In the middle of the game)

- Have other characters communicate with the user
- During the adventure, the user will meet other people that can help them on their journey. To make it more interactive and fun, they will get 2 options on how to respond or react to what the other character has said. This will make the game more engaging as each option will lead to a different pathway.
- An example of this is when the user enters the village. They can either seek help or continue the journey by themselves. If the user selects seek help, then they will go and ask a villager for directions. To do this both characters will need to communicate with each other, making it a fun way for the player to learn new information without the game directly stating it.

- The story should have an ultimate goal that the user has to try and achieve
- The game should have an ultimate goal, allowing the player to pick appropriate options that will help them reach the end successfully. If the game is endless and doesn't have a certain end goal or task, it will bore and confuse the user.
- Example of this idea at the start of the game: "Welcome to the Text-Based Adventure Game! Your goal is to save the princess by going on a long and treacherous journey to the swamp and fighting the evil witch who has kidnapped her."
- The game should have an ultimate goal, allowing the player to pick appropriate options that will help them reach the end successfully. If the game is endless and doesn't have a certain end goal or task, it will bore and confuse the user.
- The user can choose their own adventure.
- At the beginning, there should be different adventures that the player can choose from, according to their needs and wants. This will make the game more entertaining and personalised for the user.
- Example: "Which adventure would you like to complete : Jurassic Park, Harry Potter or Cinderella?"
- At the beginning, there should be different adventures that the player can choose from, according to their needs and wants. This will make the game more entertaining and personalised for the user.

Existing Text Based Adventure Games
- Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
- The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is an interactive text-based game that requires an input from the user. To successfully accomplish the game, the player must escape the place that they've been trapped in by using the tools they've been given and not die.
- The strengths of this game are that it is interactive as it asks the user for an input. This makes it more fun and engaging to play as it allows the user to actively participate in the game. Also, the image of the room on the right-hand side of the screen made it easier for the user to identify the objects they could use to escape the room and other obstacles.
- This game has many weaknesses that made it difficult for me to play the game. This is because there were not proper instructions that told the user the aim of the game and what they were supposed to do. Also, in the game, it did not state the words that we could use, resulting in the game not recognising most of the words I entered. This made the game frustrating, irritating and hard to play.

- Forests of Lyrica
- The Forests of Lyrica is a text-based adventure game that requires the user to enter a direction or take, drop or use an item. ADD MOREEEE
- Strengths: The game displays images that match the location the user is at. This allows the player to clearly visualise their surroundings, making it easier for them to pick their next move. Also, the images help create a realistic and magical mood for the audience, increasing their gaming experience.
- Weaknesses: This game only allows the player to use 7 words, making it boring and not enjoyable or challenging to play. Also, there are no rules which makes the game difficult and confusing to understand and play.

Algorithm Constructs
- Sequence
- Sequence is the order the steps are carried out in.
- An example of Sequence is: DECLARE name SET name TO Bobby
- Sequence is the order the steps are carried out in.
- Assignment
- Assignment is the process of storing a value into a variable.
- An example of Assignment is: DECLARE lives SET lives TO 5
- Assignment is the process of storing a value into a variable.
- Selection and Condition
- A selection statement is what determines the next line of code, depending on the condition and if the requirement was met or not. Conditions are statements that are asked by the program and if it is true or false, a certain code will be executed.
- Example of selection and condition: SET goals TO 10 SET win TO 15 IF goals >= win THEN PRINT "You Won!!! Awesome Job!" ELSE PRINT "You Lost! Try Again!"
- A selection statement is what determines the next line of code, depending on the condition and if the requirement was met or not. Conditions are statements that are asked by the program and if it is true or false, a certain code will be executed.
- Iteration
- Iteration is used to repeat a certain code multiple times. The most common loops used to repeat a block of code are WHILE, REPEAT AND FOR loops.
- Example: DECLARE number SET number TO 0 FOR number = 0 to 10 OUTPUT number END FOR "counting has been completed!"
- Iteration is used to repeat a certain code multiple times. The most common loops used to repeat a block of code are WHILE, REPEAT AND FOR loops.
- Modularisation
- Modularisation is the process of deconstructing complicated codes into simple sections that are easy to understand.
- Example: FUNCTION total_cost CALCULATE numberofBooks IF numberofBooks IS GREATER THAN 15 OUTPUT "You have sold", numberofBooks, "excellent job!" ELSE OUTPUT "Try harder next time." END FUNCTION
- Modularisation is the process of deconstructing complicated codes into simple sections that are easy to understand.

Coding Constructs
- IF statements
- If statements are only executed when a specific condition is true. Else statements, however, are the opposite as they are only executed when that condition is false.
- print("Do you want to buy ice cream?") answer = input("yes/no") if answer == "yes": flavour = input ("What flavour would you like? ") else: print ("Oh that's sad. Maybe next time.")
- If statements are only executed when a specific condition is true. Else statements, however, are the opposite as they are only executed when that condition is false.
- FOR loops
- A FOR loop allows you to repeat a block of code a certain number of times.
- for y in range 20 print (y)
- A FOR loop allows you to repeat a block of code a certain number of times.
- WHILE Loops
- WHILE loops are loops that allow a certain code to keep running as long as the condition is true. When the condition is false, the WHILE loop terminates and the program moves onto the next part of the code.
- Example: number = 0 While number != 15: print(number) number = number+1
- WHILE loops are loops that allow a certain code to keep running as long as the condition is true. When the condition is false, the WHILE loop terminates and the program moves onto the next part of the code.
