Algorithm constructs
- Sequence
- A sequence is a set of actions carried out in the order the activity is done in. Doing the steps in the correct order is essential, if the steps are but in the wrong order, the algorithm could fail to work correctly
- e.g the sequence for railroad kick: jump spin, kick ,uppercut
- A sequence is a set of actions carried out in the order the activity is done in. Doing the steps in the correct order is essential, if the steps are but in the wrong order, the algorithm could fail to work correctly
- Assignment
- An assignment means giving a value into a variable. And a variable is like a name or label that stores information.
- START, DECLARE CharacterName, SET CharacterName TO “Peach”, OUTPUT “Welcome to the game, Peach”, END
- An assignment means giving a value into a variable. And a variable is like a name or label that stores information.
- Selection
- A selection statement is what happens next in the game, the selection statement chooses what to do next based on what the condition is.
- Then output message. in this example if the character wins, then the output message shows. this is the selection made by the program
- A selection statement is what happens next in the game, the selection statement chooses what to do next based on what the condition is.
- Condition
- A condition is the question that decides what to do next, examples of a condition are the words, IF,IF-ELSE,ELSE-IF START IF score >= 95 THEN OUTPUT "You won the game." ELSE OUTPUT "You lost the game." END IF END The condition in this code is the “IF” statement so in this pseudocode the condition is “ IF score >= 90 THEN”
- here the condition is that the score must be greater than 90 for the next step to follow.

- iteration
- The Iteration is the repeated execution of the program.Iteration statements include WHILE, ENDWHILE, FOR , ENDFORstatements.
- START FOR 5 steps INPUT turning in circles ENDFOR. END

prescribed criteria
- 1. Develop an Algorithm using Pseudocode conventions
- Develop an algorithm for once of the Nintendo games- Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart
- Pseudocode conventions must be used in the algorithm. Such as all keywords must be written in bold and capital, use indentation when a code belongs to a particular block or code, START and END should be at the beginning and the end of the algorithm
- Example keywords for pseudocode -IF/IF ELSE, IS EQUAL TO, START,END,THEN,WHILE.
- 2. Super Smash Bros
- o Develop an ultimate high damage finishing offensive strategy to eliminate the opponent
- For super smash bros create a high damage strategy
- The strategy should be offensive which means that we do not need to create defensive moves
- The moves should ultimately eliminate the opponent
- Use five (5) conditions (IF, ELSEIF, ELSE) in your pseudocode
- The pseudocode must include 5 unique moves to damage to opponent using IF,ELIF and ELSE
- Example offensive moves of Bowser: GIGA BOWSER PUNCH- 40% damage Up tilt-11% damage Forward tilt-13% damage
- Up smash- 22% damage Flying slam- 23.4% damage
- o Develop an ultimate high damage finishing offensive strategy to eliminate the opponent
- 1. Develop an Algorithm using Pseudocode conventions
character choices-bowser
- Forward Tilt
- This power move is a strong side attack that can be angled up or down. With damage at 155%
- Side special ( flying slam)
- It involves Bowser clawing at an opponent,
- Whirling Fortress
- This move involves Bowser retreating into his shell and spinning rapidly, dealing damage to nearby foes.
- Forward Air
- It is a move that can do pretty much whatever you want it to do
- Fire Breath
- This power move allows Bowser to continuously exhale a stream of fire in front of him
- Forward Tilt
