                  1. decrease in child mortality
                  2. middle-aged, working people
                    1. longer life expectancy
                    2. stage 3- late expanding
                      1. birth rates also begin to fall quite rapidly
                        1. slowly increasing population
                          1. family planning
                            1. low infant mortality
                              1. less pressure to have more!
                            2. higher elderly population
                            3. stage 4- low fluctuating
